KMPlayer is a powerful media center from Korean developers. Its functionality is so rich that it would take more than one hour to list and describe them.The player supports almost all currently used multimedia file formats, including DVD, VCD, AVI, MKV, Ogg Theora, OGM, 3GP, MPEG-1/2/4, WMV, RealMedia and QuickTime. It has a built-in libavcodec library, which already contains all sorts of filters and codecs for comfortable playback of almost any video and audio format, including streaming data.

The new KMP is aimed at satisfying the most diverse tastes and preferences of residents of different countries of the world. The choice offered to the user is truly impressive – these are videos of many formats, music of different genres, multimedia applications of various orientations, a fashionable and modern “cloud service” for storing user information and, of course, a variety of online games.The KMPlayer has very wide and specific video settings, has high-quality support for subtitles of various formats, has advanced video and audio capture capabilities, can play incompletely downloaded or damaged AVI files, as well as play music files directly from archives and MUCH more.

If a home theater is connected to the computer, and the video being played has a 5.1 or 7.1-channel audio track (in DTS or Dolby Digital format), KMPlayer will automatically output the sound to each speaker (the main thing is that the surround sound system is selected in the sound card settings as the default audio device).

You can change the audio track and enable or change the subtitle language through the player menu. The list of available actions depends on the specific file that is currently being played. For example, if a movie is 10 or 15 GB, then in addition to high-quality video, the file usually contains additional voiceover options (sometimes in different languages) and subtitles. But if the size of the movie being played is 1.5 GB or less, then you should not expect additional materials in it.

After installation, the KMPlayer is associated with video file extensions on the computer, so to start playback, you only need to double-click the left mouse button on the desired file in Windows Explorer.

The player can play files one by one from one folder and in any order from playlists, which can be created by opening the list editor (hot keys – ALT + E). By default, after the last video is finished, the program will simply continue to hang open on the computer. However, you can configure KMPlayer to automatically shut down Windows (a convenient feature for those who like to fall asleep while watching movies before going to bed), or simply close automatically.

Advantages of KMPlayer over the standard Windows player

• To watch movies in a standard media player, you will have to install additional codecs (for example, K-Lite codec pack) and periodically update them manually. KMPlayer does this automatically.
• Configuring filters in video and audio signal processors for yourself. It sounds complicated, and not everyone needs it, but there are users for whom having such settings in the player is like a breath of fresh air in the morning in the Alps. You can output sound, for example, to several connected speaker systems or sound cards at the same time, and transfer the picture from the computer monitor to the TV connected via HDMI cable. The standard Windows player cannot boast of anything else except adjusting the volume with a slider.
• KMP player loads quickly and does not freeze when trying to open a damaged video or a large file (50 GB or more). If the video is not completely saved on the computer (for example, it has only downloaded half), KMPlayer will still open it and play it up to the point where the download was interrupted. Windows Media Player (or the Movies & TV app on Windows 10) cannot work with such files.
